I first met Ivan on Stackoverflow.com about a year ago. I posted a question about a task I was working on that involved creating a winding path within a polygon using the Google Maps API in JavaScript. Among the users that posted their thoughts, Ivan was the only one that had a solid working solution. Though my request was quite complex and full of small details, Ivan was quickly able to translate my requirements into a working demo. I was so impressed with his work and communication, that I hired him to continue working on this project.
My project involved creating a Google Map with several complex features/requirements such as the ability to draw paths, draw polygons that autofill with a winding path, ordering the paths, growing/shrinking the paths, a demo that walks the created path along with adjustable speeds of travel, a "live" mode that allows the map to work on a server and communicate with a device, saving and loading of the drawn paths, and many other highly technical features. During our time working together, Ivan was able to gather the necessary requirements for each segment of the project and work within deadlines to complete each task. Although English is not a native language for Ivan, he was able to communicate thoroughly and effectively to accomplish each task. Had he not told me English wasn't his native language, I would not have known. He demonstrates a very thorough understanding of the conversational nuances of the language and can effectively carry on a discussion.
The quality of work Ivan delivered is exceptional. During our initial discussions, Ivan indicated that JavaScript was not typically an area of focus for him, but he quickly learned what he needed to in order to accomplish the task and has since shared what he has learned within various technical forums. To this day, Ivan's is the only example you can find on the internet of creating a winding path within a polygon using the Google Maps API. He is a creative thinker, problem solver, and welcomes new challenges with excitement. Ivan has proven himself to be a well-qualified, competent, and dependable programmer. He is at the top of my list for future work.
Aside from being a highly skilled programmer, Ivan is a genuinely nice person. He expresses an interest in the well-being of others, he shares information about his own life, and is introspective. He strives to be the best he can be for himself and his family. I am proud to call Ivan a friend and feel incredibly fortunate that I've had the opportunity to know and work with him.
